Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday with already more than 12,500 membersbooking their spot for the Jets’ first A-League finals game since 2009-10.

The Jets’ record home crowd of24,338 came from the 2006-07 finals against Sydney and McKinna was confident of getting beyond 20,000 for the City clash. A crowd of18,156 lifted a 10-man Jetsto a 2-1 win over premiers Sydney in round 22 and McKinna was hoping for a repeat effort from the Newcastle faithful.

“When we beat Sydney, one of their players said to us that the crowd got to them during the game,” McKinna said.“So it’s definitely a factor.”

City hosted a crowd of only 7757 to their elimination final victoryover Brisbane and Melbourne Victory had 15,502 to theirwin over Adelaide on the weekend.

“When you look at the crowds at the weekend, we’re going to be the shininglightI think,” McKinna said.

Jets coach Ernie Merrick said “the crowd got us over the line against Sydney”.

“I’m surprised at the lack of crowds down in Melbourne,” Merrick said.

“It would great to have another terrific Novocastrian crowd behindus for such a crucial game and I think it’s very exciting for this city for us to be in the finals like this against a team like Melbourne City, so it will be a big crowd hopefully and we need that crowd behind us.”

Tickets are available from midday at Ticketmaster.
